MetaTrader price alerts on your phone

MetaTrader alerts set in the desktop terminal are checked by that terminal, so it has to stay running for the push to reach your phone. If you don't want a computer or VPS on all day just to be told a price, you need an alert that runs somewhere else.

How MetaTrader alerts reach your phone

In MetaTrader 4 and 5 you can create price alerts in the desktop terminal and have them sent to the MetaTrader mobile app as push notifications, by linking the terminal to your phone's MetaQuotes ID.

The catch is where the checking happens. Those alerts are evaluated by the terminal itself. If your computer sleeps, loses connection or the terminal is closed, the alert can't fire — which is why many traders end up paying for a VPS just to keep MetaTrader online.

Common problems

  • The terminal isn't running when the price hits, so no alert is sent.
  • The MetaQuotes ID isn't linked or push notifications are disabled in the terminal's settings.
  • Your phone mutes the notification — silent mode, Do Not Disturb and Focus all apply to MetaTrader pushes too.
  • It's a notification, not an alarm, so it's easy to miss overnight, even when it arrives.

A price alarm that doesn't need your terminal

VIIJEL watches prices on its own servers, so nothing needs to stay running on your computer. You set a level, put your phone away, and it rings like an alarm when the market gets there — critical levels re-ring every 15 seconds until you answer.

It never asks for your MetaTrader or broker login and never places trades. It watches the price and calls you; the trading stays in MetaTrader.

Where it stands today: VIIJEL launches with crypto. Forex (EUR/USD, GBP/USD, USD/JPY), gold (XAU/USD), silver, indices (US30, US100) and oil are built and running in testing, and switch on once licensed real-time data is in place. MetaTrader traders are who we're building for next — tell us what you trade and we'll prioritise it.

Prices from different sources can differ slightly from your broker's feed, so an alarm is best used to tell you a level is close — check your terminal before acting.

Questions

Alerts created in the MetaTrader desktop terminal are checked by that terminal, so it needs to be running — on your computer or a VPS — for the alert to fire and be pushed to your phone.

No. VIIJEL never asks for your MetaTrader or broker credentials and never places trades. It watches the market price independently and rings you when your level is hit.

Not always to the last digit — every broker's feed differs slightly. VIIJEL prices your alarm against the same price it shows you, so it's accurate to what you see in the app. Check your terminal before acting.
