What is a Bitcoin price alarm?
A Bitcoin price alarm watches the live BTC price for you and makes your phone ring when it crosses a level you set — above or below. It's the market version of the alarm clock on your nightstand: you decide the moment, then you stop thinking about it.
That's different from a standard price alert, which is just a notification. Notifications are easy to miss: they arrive silently, get grouped with messages and app promos, and are muted by Do Not Disturb or Focus. For a level you actually care about, "I'll see it eventually" isn't good enough.
Why Bitcoin alerts get missed
Bitcoin trades 24/7, so the move you're waiting for is as likely to happen at 3 a.m. or during dinner as during the day. The usual failure points:
- Silent notifications. The alert arrives, but nothing makes a sound, so you find it hours later.
- Do Not Disturb and Focus. Most apps' alerts are held back until you turn them off.
- The app has to be open. Some trackers only check prices while running; phones aggressively close background apps to save battery.
- Alert fatigue. Too many small alerts train you to swipe them away — including the one that mattered.
How to set a Bitcoin price alarm with VIIJEL
- Pick your level. Choose BTC and the price you're waiting for, above or below the current price.
- Put the phone away. The watch runs on VIIJEL's servers against a live Coinbase feed, 24/7 — the app can be closed and your screen can be off.
- Get rung. When Bitcoin crosses your level, VIIJEL sends an alarm-style alert. For levels you mark critical, it re-rings every 15 seconds until you answer.
In testing, VIIJEL's servers fire within 0–40 ms of the market crossing a level. It also refuses to fire on stale prices and tells you if it can't see the market, rather than going quiet.
Tips for levels worth being woken up for
A price alarm is only as useful as the levels you give it. Traders tend to keep them few and deliberate:
- Set levels you'd act on, not every number that feels interesting. Fewer alarms keep each one meaningful.
- Use both directions. A level above and a level below tells you when the market has broken out of the range you were waiting on.
- Mark only the important ones critical. Critical levels ring and repeat; the rest can stay quiet.
This is general information about using alerts, not financial advice. VIIJEL never tells you which levels to pick.
Questions
Yes. VIIJEL watches the Bitcoin price on its own servers, so closing the app or locking your phone doesn't stop the watch. When BTC reaches your level, a push alarm is sent to your phone.
